At the end of May 2009, one of the most prestigious Polish research centers was put in operation, Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of PAS. IFTR moved its activity from the premises rented at Świętokrzyska to 5, Pawiński Street. The design was created in Kontrapunkt Office under the management of Aleksander Mirek, in cooperation with Ewa Dobrucka, Lucyna Serafin, Miłosz Sanetra and Louay Farah.
The main work axis of the complex under the name of Brzozowy Gaj situated on the area of PAS Campus in Ochota district of Warsaw, constitutes an illuminated copse that can be seen from all most important spots of the building. This effect is intensified by hall construction that is entirely made of transparent glass with suspended bagatelle – a complex of conference rooms “thread” onto glass flying bridge.
The building encompasses, among others, an auditorium with 157 seats, offices, laboratory rooms, library connected with a reading room and a restaurant. The café situated on the VI floor of bagatelle offers an extended panorama of the city and of the Palace of Culture and Science.
